The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is Your Voice at the IRS.
There job is to ensure that every taxpayer is treated fairly, and that
you know and understand your rights. They offer free help to guide
you through the often-confusing process of resolving your tax
problems that you haven’t been able to solve on your own.
Remember, the worst thing you can do is nothing at all!
When to Come to TAS
If you are having tax problems and have not been able to resolve them
yourself, go to them. Even if you feel like there is nowhere to turn, the
worst thing you can do is nothing at all. The advocates will ensure that
your best interests are represented to the IRS.
TAS can help if you can’t resolve your problem with the IRS and:

Work Investment Act (WIA)
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) offers services consisting of
workforce development activities benefiting job seekers—adults,
dislocated workers, youth, incumbent workers, new entrants to
the workforce, veterans, individuals with disabilities—and
employers. WIA’s objective is to meet employers’ needs by
increasing employment, job retention, earnings, and occupational
skills among all job seeker populations.
WIA is a no-cost employment program designed to give job seekers
the support and/or skills training they need to find a job.

JPS Discount Program
If you earn too much money to qualify for the JPS Connection
program, you and your family may still qualify for a JPS
assistance program. The JPS Discount program is for people
who can’t afford health insurance but whose income is too high
for them to take advantage of our JPS Connection program. The
benefits of the programs are similar: You can see health care
providers regularly for preventive care, get prescriptions, visit
specialists and much more. The main difference between the
JPS Discount and JPS Connection programs is that the co-
payments or fees are going to be a little higher for JPS Discount,
and for some services you must pay a percentage of the charges.

Protect Yourself from Fraud and Identity Theft!
1. Do not sign the back of your credit cards. Instead,
put 'PHOTO ID REQUIRED.'
2. When you are writing checks to pay on your credit card
accounts, DO NOT put the complete account number on the
'For' line. Instead, just put the last four numbers. The credit
card company knows the rest of the number, and anyone
who might be handling your check as it passes through all
the check processing channels won't have access to it.
3. Put your work phone # on your checks instead of your
home phone. If you have a PO Box use that instead of your
home address. If you do not have a PO Box, use your work
address. Never have your SS# printed on your checks. You
can add it if it is necessary. But if you have It printed, anyone
can get it.
4. Place the contents of your wallet on a photocopy machine.
Do both sides of each license, credit card, etc. You will know
what you had in your wallet and all of the account numbers
and phone numbers to call and cancel... Keep the photocopy
in a safe place.
Also, carry a photocopy of your passport when you travel either
here or abroad. We've all heard horror stories about fraud that's
committed on us in stealing a Name, address, Social Security
number, credit cards.
Here's some critical information to limit the damage in case this
happens to you or someone you know:
5. We have been told we should cancel our credit cards
immediately. But the key is having the toll free numbers
and your card numbers handy so you know whom to call.
Keep those where you can find them.
6. File a police report immediately in the jurisdiction where
your credit cards, etc., were stolen. This proves to credit providers
you were diligent, and this is a first step toward an investigation
(if there ever is one).
But here is what is perhaps the most important of all:
7. Call the 3 national credit reporting organizations immediately
to place a fraud alert on your name and also call the Social
Security fraud line number.
The alert means any company that checks your credit knows
your information was stolen, and they have to contact you by
phone to authorize new credit.
